Eclipse seasons often arrive with a sense of mystery and intensity. For many, these cosmic events feel like a turning point…an ending, a beginning, or a deep stirring in the subconscious.
But what many don’t realize is that our sensitivity to eclipses may come from something far older than this lifetime.
Ancient Memory in Our Cells and Souls
For our ancestors, eclipses were often terrifying. Imagine the sun or moon… the most dependable forces in the sky, suddenly disappearing. Ancient cultures sometimes saw this as a sign of danger, death, or punishment from the gods. Communities would respond with fear, rituals, and prayers to bring back the light.
Even if we consciously know better today, those collective memories can live in our energetic and soul imprint. Past-life experiences, ancestral memory, and collective consciousness can all ripple into our modern experience. This is why during eclipses, you may feel a wave of dread, anxiety, or unease, without knowing why.
The Energetics of an Eclipse
Energetically, eclipses are portals. They bring what is hidden into the light, accelerate growth, and push us toward alignment. That can feel destabilizing, especially if we are clinging to old patterns or resisting change.
This September, we will experience:
A Total Lunar Eclipse in Pisces on September 7 – opening a portal for release, surrender, spiritual insight, and trust in the unseen.
A Partial Solar Eclipse in Virgo on September 21 – bringing focus to healing, boundaries, and the practical steps that ground transformation into daily life.
Together, these eclipses ask us to balance Pisces’ surrender with Virgo’s discernment, letting go of what clouds our intuition, while choosing the habits and routines that truly support us.
It’s normal to feel heightened emotions, disrupted sleep, or even physical exhaustion around this time. The body and spirit are recalibrating.
How to Navigate Eclipse Energies
If you’ve been feeling the stirrings of shadow or fear, here are a few gentle ways to support yourself:
Ground Your Body – Rest more than usual, hydrate deeply, spend time barefoot on the earth.
Calm the Nervous System – Breathwork, meditation, or simply slowing your exhale can soothe fear signals. (✨Here is link to my go-to breathwork!)
Journal the Shadows – If old fears or memories surface, write them down without judgment and let them move through you.
Affirm Safety – Simple words like “I am safe, supported, and guided as the shadows clear” can rewire old imprints.
Lean Into Support – Whether it’s trusted friends, community, or spiritual practice, connection helps us move through the shadows with grace.
Journal Prompts for the Virgo–Pisces Eclipse Axis
This season invites us to reflect on the balance between surrender and structure, intuition and practicality. Use these prompts as gentle openings:
Where in my life am I being invited to release control and trust the unseen? (Pisces – Sept 7)
Where am I craving more clarity, boundaries, or healthy routines? (Virgo – Sept 21)
What patterns, habits, or fears am I ready to surrender to make space for healing?
Where do I give too much of myself, and how can I bring that into balance?
What truth emerges when I sit in the stillness of the shadow, trusting the return of the light?
You don’t need to journal them all at once. Let one or two guide you through this powerful season.
Reframing the Eclipse
Instead of fearing the dark, what if we welcomed it as a moment of reset? An eclipse doesn’t take the light away forever…it reveals how powerful the return of light truly is.
When we embrace eclipse energy as an ally rather than a threat, we step into transformation with open hands.
